114 Main Street, Greenfield
Greenfield will hold its first beautification visioning meeting on May 22.
All are invited to an interactive meeting designed to collect ideas for ways to make Greenfield's Main Street, the Fisk Avenue parking lot, and the large parking lot behind Wilson's more beautiful and welcoming. The meeting, facilitated by two Conway School of Landscape Design students, is a collaborative effort of the Town of Greenfield and many other groups, including the GBA.
"We hope that a lot of people will come and share their ideas," said Mayor Martin. "This is the first of a series of opportunities for everybody to contribute to our new Gateways to Greenfield initiative that will make Greenfield more welcoming to visitors and more beautiful."
7:30 - 9:00 a.m. at the Greenfield offices of Nikki Welsh
277 Main Street, Greenfield
Should you be an S-corp or a sole proprietor? An LLC or a limited partnership? A new workshop, geared to small business owners, covers differences in the structures of corporate ownership. It will be led by Greenfield's Nikki Welsh, who offers this synopsis of her presentation:
Too frequently individuals form a business as a sole proprietorship, partnership, C-corporation or S-corporation without an understanding of the short-term or long-term implications. When determining the appropriate business entity, the most critical component of the selection process involves understanding the full life cycle of the business. Far too often the impact of future, perhaps unknown events are not taken into consideration. Such events include sales, addition of owners, redemptions, or liquidations. There are significant tax implications, differences in financial reporting, different options available when planning for growth, succession, or termination of the business depending on the type of business entity selected by the owner or owners. Corporations and an LLC provide limited liability while a sole-proprietorship and partnership do not. Their characteristics and optimal use vary significantly. The workshop is part of the Building Your Business series organized by the Shelburne Falls Area Business Association, the Greenfield Business Association, and the Montague Business Association. Refreshments will be provided. Registration is required and the fee is $10. Contact Kate Snyder, 774-2791, to register.
Who doesn't like to stroll down Main Street and happen upon a bargain? SummerFest and Sidewalk Sales gives Greenfielders that very opportunity. We're getting ready to make this year's sales event bigger and better than ever before, striving for 100% participation by downtown retailers and tents on the sidewalk from those who are not downtown. So, mark your calendars for July 27 and 28. Cancel your vacation to the Cape or Disney World. Venice can wait. Believe me, Bora Bora will always be there. Plan to come instead to Greenfield's SummerFest and Sidewalk Sales.
Business owners in Greenfield who would like to participate in SummerFest and Sidewalk Sales, please see the forms below for more information and to register.
