Free Harvest Supper Feeds Over 900!
We hope you made it to this year's Harvest Supper, which fed 950 hungry people on Sunday, August 18. There's nothing like the Harvest Supper to get the old civic pride all puffed up! The menu included local pork, eggs, vegetables, and fruit (and don't forget the ice cream and kombucha) and I am here to tell you that everything was DELICIOUS. Best yet! And to top if off, over $1,900 in cash donations went to the Center for Self-Reliance Food Pantry's farmers' market coupon program.

Thanks once again to the owners of Hope & Olive and Magpie (GBA members, of course!) for spearheading such an amazing event, and to the many farms and individuals who donate both their food and their time to make it all happen. It's a gigantic effort with a gigantic pay-off.

GIDE Computer Workshops
We're thrilled to announce that we'll be offering computer workshops this fall through GBA member Rob LaPorte of DISC, Inc. and his GIDE program. Each workshop will be a one-time, hands-on event held here at the Chamber that will guide you through increasing the web presence of your business. In just three hours you'll be able to make a real difference!

We haven't finalized the dates yet but we expect to any day; you can sign up for alerts so you'll be the first to know the details and will have first shot at signing up. Just to go getitdoneexpress.org and follow the "sign-up now" links under the workshop descriptions and you'll be kept in the loop. Workshops will be $100 for GBA and Chamber members, $125 for the general public.

If you have any questions, call Caitlin at 774.2791 or email at gba@franklincc.org.

It's right around the corner, the one, the only Franklin County Fair! Yippee! You have not one, not two, not three, but FOUR days to get there - September 5, 6, 7, & 8 - so be sure not to miss it. This year boasts a new Midway operator, Reithoffer Shows, so look for new rides and attractions. Also keep an eye out for another new addition, the New England Center for the Circus Arts. Plus there are don't-miss old favorites like Robinson's Racing Pigs; the Frisbee Dogs; the animal judging; the quilts, canned goods, art, and much more in the RoundHouse (youth entries are in the Youth Hall); the Baby Barnyard; and lots more. And don't forget the food, food, FOOD! Are you kidding me? How could you possibly have a better time!
Get the most recent updates on the Fair facebook page or go to their website for more info. There are 165 great reasons to go the Franklin County Fair so be there or be square!

And in case you missed it in last month's newletter, it was I, Coordinator Caitlin, who designed the poster and billboard. Viva la Franklin County Fair!

Park(ing) Day Is September 20;
Next Master Plan Workshop September 26
Have you heard of Park(ing) Day? In the organizers' words, "PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks." Sound cool? Heck yeah! This year the Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) and the Greenfield Sustainable Master Plan Advisory Committee are going to be partnering to participate right here in Greenfield. Plans are ongoing but keep an eye out - we'll be having a lot of fun!

The FRCOG will be promoting alternate forms of transportation and the MPAC will be promoting its next public event, which will take place on Thursday, September 26 on Court Square from 4 - 7 p.m. You can look at the facebook event page here. Come on the 26th and take a look at the goals of the Master Plan!

As always, call or email Caitlin with questions: 774.2791 or gba@franklincc.org.

Only 116 Shopping Days Till Christmas!
What's that you say? The holiday season is still months away? Don't kid yourself, folks - it'll be on you before you know it, like a hammer on a nail! And how do I know this? Why, because we're already planning for this year's Home for the Holidays event, of course!

This year's event will take place on Saturday, December 7 (times to be announced). We'll be running our Holiday Store Window competition again, with great prizes for both the winning business and a randomly-drawn voter. We'll be getting the word out early this time about the competition, so start planning now. Let's make downtown positively shine this holiday season!

Lots more info in the next newsletter, I promise! And have I mentioned lately that if you have any questions, you should call or email Caitlin? 774.2791 or gba@franklincc.org.
