The Board Needs You!
The GBA Board is an active group of 15 local business people who decide the direction of this association. This June 16 at the annual meeting, you members will elect a slate of seven board members. Now is the time to get your name on the ballot if you'd like a seat at the table. Terms last three years, and board members are required to be available for monthly meetings, to serve on at least one committee, and to volunteer for at least one event per year. Serving on the board is a great way to connect with Greenfield business owners and to bring your energy to promoting Greenfield. Send a message to Kate to get on the ballot.

Annual Meeting: Let Your Voice Be Heard

Planning has begun for the GBA's Annual Meeting. Mark your calendar: it will be held June 16 from 11:45 to 1:15. We're still securing the location and speaker, so stay tuned. The Annual Meeting is a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the year past, and to identify where we'd like to be headed in the year to come. It's also your chance to elect board members (see above) and to connect with other GBA members. Please join us.

Breaking News!

The GBA's flagship event, Summer Fest and Sidewalk Sales, is teaming up with the celebration of Greenfield's 200th anniversary as county seat. So...the big event will be held the weekend of July 23 and 24, with sidewalk sales on Saturday, July 23.

A portion of Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic; there'll be music, food, activities, trolley rides, historic tours, bicycle jaunts, dinosaur footprints and much more! See you downtown!

Laugh for Life

Join comics Mike Vecchione, Dr. Jay Sutay and former Turners Falls resident Rick Kelley this Saturday, May 14, for a Relay for Life benefit at 7 pm at the Montague Elks Club in Turners Falls. On May 14 A Honey of a Celebration will honor the 200th birthday of the Rev. Lorenzo Langstroth of the Second Congregational Church in Greenfield. Rev. Langstroth invented the movable bee frame hive, allowing beekeeping to thrive for local producers. Retailers who sell honey-based items are encouraged to display them prominently.
BBBS Raffles Sox Tix and More
For more than 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Franklin County has been providing positive role models for youth in need. They match volunteers with youth who spend a few hours a month together, having fun and getting to know one another. The mentoring relationships help children develop into young people with more confidence and competence. This summer, BBBS will be selling raffle tickets in order to raise money for these services to the youth and families of the Franklin County and North Quabbin community.

BBBS will be concurrently selling tickets for two raffles, each featuring exciting and unique prizes. The first raffle will be drawn on Sunday, July 17, at the Green River Festival. This raffle features two tickets to the Saturday, August 27, Red Sox game versus the Oakland A's, OR a Zip-Line tour for two. For just $3 per ticket, or 5 tickets for $10, you will be entered to win either one of these exciting adventures!

The second raffle will be drawn on Saturday, August 27. BBBS will only be selling 250 tickets for this raffle at $20 per ticket. With the purchase of a ticket, you will be entered to win either a 42" flat-screen LCD television, OR a Foursome at Crumpin' Fox.
The business community can support this raffle in a number of ways. Your business can be a host for our raffle by selling tickets to your customers. Or, provide space within or outside of your business for BBBS staff to set up a table and sell tickets during the day. Similarly, BBBS can sell tickets at any special events that your business will be hosting. Finally, they can provide posters and other graphic materials to be hung around your place of business, advertising the raffle and how tickets can be purchased. Contact BBBS at 413-772-0915 or e-mail for more information.
